²Principium loquendi Domino in Osee.The beginning of the Lord’s conversation with Hosea.Et dixit Dominus ad Osee: Vade,And the Lord said to Hosea: “Go,sume tibi uxorem fornicationum,take to yourself a wife of fornications,et fac tibi filios fornicationum,and make for yourself sons of fornications, because,quia fornicans fornicabitur terra a Domino.by fornicating, the land will fornicate away from the Lord.”

⁴Et dixit Dominus ad eum:And the Lord said to him:Voca nomen ejus Jezrahel,“Call his name Jezreel because,quoniam adhuc modicum,after a little while,et visitabo sanguinem Jezrahel super domum Jehu,I will visit the blood of Jezreel upon the house of Jehu,et quiescere faciam regnum domus Israël.and I will put the kingdom of the house of Israel to rest.

¹⁰Et erit numerus filiorum Israël quasi arena maris,And the number of the sons of Israel will be like the sand of the sea,quæ sine mensura est,which is without measure and cannot be numbered.et non numerabitur.And in the place where it will be said to them,Et erit in loco ubi dicetur eis:‘You are not my people,’Non populus meus vos:this will happen:dicetur eis:it will be said to them,Filii Dei viventis.‘You are the sons of the living God.’
