In finem.Unto the end.Psalmus David.A Psalm of David.

In Domino confido;I trust in the Lord.quomodo dicitis animæ meæ:How can you say to my soul,Transmigra in montem sicut passer?“Sojourn to the mountain, like a sparrow.”

Quoniam ecce peccatores intenderunt arcum; For behold, the sinners have bent their bow.paraverunt sagittas suas in pharetra,They have prepared their arrows in the quiver,ut sagittent in obscuro rectos corde:so as to shoot arrows in the dark at the upright of heart.

quoniam quæ perfecisti destruxerunt; For they have destroyed the things that you have completed.justus autem, quid fecit? But what has the just one done?

Dominus in templo sancto suo;The Lord is in his holy temple.Dominus in cælo sedes ejus. The Lord’s throne is in heaven.Oculi ejus in pauperem respiciunt; His eyes look upon the poor.palpebræ ejus interrogant filios hominum. His eyelids question the sons of men.

Dominus interrogat justum et impium; The Lord questions the just and the impious.qui autem diligit iniquitatem,Yet he who loves iniquity, odit animam suam.hates his own soul.

Pluet super peccatores laqueos; He will rain down snares upon sinners.ignis et sulphur,Fireet spiritus procellarum, and brimstonepars calicis eorum.and windstorms will be the portion of their cup.

Quoniam justus Dominus,For the Lord is just,et justitias dilexit:and he has chosen justice.æquitatem vidit vultus ejus. His countenance has beheld equity.
