In finem,Unto the end.pro octava.For the octave.Psalmus David.A Psalm of David.
Salvum me fac,Save me, O Lord,Domine, quoniam defecit sanctus, because holiness has passed away, quoniam diminutæ sunt veritates a filiis hominum.because truths have been diminished, before the sons of men.
Vana locuti sunt unusquisque ad proximum suum; They have been speaking emptiness, labia dolosa, each one to his neighbor;in corde et corde locuti sunt.they have been speaking with deceitful lips and a duplicitous heart.
Disperdat Dominus universa labia dolosa,May the Lord scatter all deceitful lips,et linguam magniloquam.along with the tongue that speaks malice.
Qui dixerunt:They have said:Linguam nostram magnificabimus;“We will magnify our tongue;labia nostra a nobis sunt.our lips belong to us.Quis noster dominus est? What is Lord to us?”
Propter miseriam inopum,Because of the misery of the destituteet gemitum pauperum, and the groaning of the poor, nunc exsurgam, now I will arise, dicit Dominus.says the Lord.Ponam in salutari;I will place him in safety.fiducialiter agam in eo.I will act faithfully toward him.
Eloquia Domini, eloquia casta; The eloquence of the Lord is pure eloquence, argentum igne examinatum, probatum terræ,silver tested by fire, purged from the earth, purgatum septuplum.refined seven times.
Tu,You,Domine,O Lord, servabis nos, will preserve us,et custodies nos a generatione hac in æternum.and you will guard us from this generation into eternity.
In circuitu impii ambulant:The impious wander aimlessly.secundum altitudinem tuam multiplicasti filios hominum.According to your loftiness, you have multiplied the sons of men.
