In finem.Unto the end.Psalmus David.A Psalm of David.
Eripe me,Rescue me,Domine,O Lord,ab homine malo;from the evil man.a viro iniquo eripe me.Rescue me from the iniquitous leader.
Qui cogitaverunt iniquitates in corde,Those who have devised iniquities in their hearts:tota die constituebant prælia.all day long they constructed conflicts.
Acuerunt linguas suas sicut serpentis; They have sharpened their tongues like a serpent.venenum aspidum sub labiis eorum. The venom of asps is under their lips.
Custodi me,Preserve me,Domine,O Lord,de manu peccatoris, from the hand of the sinner,et ab hominibus iniquis eripe me.and rescue me from men of iniquity.Qui cogitaverunt supplantare gressus meos:They have decided to supplant my steps.
absconderunt superbi laqueum mihi. The arrogant have hidden a snare for me.Et funes extenderunt in laqueum; And they have stretched out cords for a snare.juxta iter, scandalum posuerunt mihi. They have placed a stumbling block for me near the road.
Dixi Domino: Deus meus es tu;I said to the Lord: You are my God.exaudi,O Lord,Domine, vocem deprecationis meæ.heed the voice of my supplication.
Domine,Lord,Domine,O Lord, virtus salutis meæ,the strength of my salvation:obumbrasti super caput meum in die belli.you have overshadowed my head in the day of war.
Ne tradas me,O Lord,Domine, a desiderio meo peccatori:do not hand me over to the sinner by my desire.cogitaverunt contra me;They have plotted against me.ne derelinquas me,Do not abandon me,ne forte exaltentur.lest they should triumph.
Caput circuitus eorum:The head of those who encompass me,labor labiorum ipsorum operiet eos.the labor of their lips, will overwhelm them.
Cadent super eos carbones;Burning coals will fall upon them.in ignem dejicies eos:You will cast them down into the fire,in miseriis non subsistent.into miseries that they will not be able to withstand.
Vir linguosus non dirigetur in terra;A talkative man will not be guided aright upon the earth.virum injustum mala capient in interitu.Evils will drag the unjust man unto utter ruin.
Cognovi quia faciet Dominus judicium inopis,I know that the Lord will accomplish justice for the needyet vindictam pauperum.and vindication for the poor.
Verumtamen justi confitebuntur nomini tuo,So then, truly, the just will confess your name,et habitabunt recti cum vultu tuo.and the upright will dwell with your countenance.
