In finem.Unto the end.Psalmus ipsi David.A Psalm of David himself.
Beatus qui intelligit super egenum et pauperem:Blessed is he who shows understanding toward the needy and the poor.in die mala liberabit eum Dominus. The Lord will deliver him in the evil day.
Dominus conservet eum,May the Lord preserve himet vivificet eum,and give him life,et beatum faciat eum in terra, and make him blessed upon the earth.et non tradat eum in animam inimicorum ejus. And may he not hand him over to the will of his adversaries.
Dominus opem ferat illi super lectum doloris ejus;May the Lord bring him help on his bed of sorrow.universum stratum ejus versasti in infirmitate ejus.In his infirmity, you have changed his entire covering.
Ego dixi:I said,Domine,“O Lord,miserere mei;be merciful to me.sana animam meam,Heal my soul,quia peccavi tibi.because I have sinned against you.”
Inimici mei dixerunt mala mihi:My enemies have spoken evils against me.Quando morietur,When will he dieet peribit nomen ejus?and his name perish?
Et si ingrediebatur ut videret,And when he came in to see me,vana loquebatur;he was speaking emptiness.cor ejus congregavit iniquitatem sibi. His heart gathered iniquity to itself.Egrediebatur forasHe went outside,et loquebatur.and he was speaking in the same way.
In idipsum adversum me susurrabant omnes inimici mei;All my enemies were whispering against me.adversum me cogitabant mala mihi. They were thinking up evils against me.
Verbum iniquum constituerunt adversum me:They established an unjust word against me.Numquid qui dormit non adjiciet ut resurgat? Will he that sleeps no longer rise again?
Etenim homo pacis meæ in quo speravi,For even the man of my peace, qui edebat panes meos,in whom I hoped, magnificavit super me supplantationem.who ate my bread, has greatly supplanted me.
Tu autem,But you,Domine,O Lord,miserere mei,have mercy on me,et resuscita me;and raise me up again.et retribuam eis.And I will requite them.
In hoc cognovi quoniam voluisti me,By this, I knew that you preferred me:quoniam non gaudebit inimicus meus super me.because my adversary will not rejoice over me.
Me autem propter innocentiam suscepisti; But you have sustained me, because of my innocence,et confirmasti me in conspectu tuo in æternum.and you have confirmed me in your sight in eternity.
Benedictus Dominus Deus Israël a sæculoBlessed is the Lord God of Israel,et usque in sæculum.for all generations and even forever.Fiat,Amen.fiat.Amen.
