In finem.Unto the end.Intellectus filiis Core. The understanding of the sons of Korah.

Quemadmodum desiderat cervus ad fontes aquarum,As the deer longs for fountains of water, ita desiderat anima mea ad te,so my soul longs for you,Deus.O God.

Sitivit anima mea ad Deum fortem, vivum; My soul has thirsted for the strong living God.quando veniam, et apparebo ante faciem Dei?When will I draw close and appear before the face of God?

Fuerunt mihi lacrimæ meæ panes die ac nocte,My tears have been my bread, day and night.dum dicitur mihi quotidie:Meanwhile, it is said to me daily:Ubi est Deus tuus?“Where is your God?”

Hæc recordatus sum,These things I have remembered;et effudi in me animam meam, and my soul within me,quoniam transibo in locum tabernaculi admirabilis,I have poured out.usque ad domum Dei,For I will cross into the place of the wonderful tabernacle,in voce exsultationisall the way to the house of God,et confessionis, with a voice of exultation and confession, sonus epulantis.the sound of feasting.

Quare tristis es,Why are you sad, anima mea?my soul?et quare conturbas me?And why do you disquiet me?Spera in Deo,Hope in God,quoniam adhuc confitebor illi, for I will still confess to him:salutare vultus mei,the salvation of my countenance,

et Deus meus.and my God.Ad meipsum anima mea conturbata est:My soul has been troubled within myself. Because of this, propterea memor ero tui de terra Jordanis et Hermoniim a monte modico.I will remember you from the land of the Jordan and from Hermon, from the little mountain.

Abyssus abyssum invocat,Abyss calls upon abyss,in voce cataractarum tuarum;with the voice of your floodgate.omnia excelsa tua,All your heightset fluctus tui super me transierunt.and your waves have passed over me.

In die mandavit Dominus misericordiam suam,In the daylight, the Lord has ordered his mercy;et nocte canticum ejus;and in the night, a canticle to him.apud me oratio Deo vitæ meæ.With me is a prayer to the God of my life.

Dicam Deo:I will say to God,Susceptor meus es;“You are my supporter.quare oblitus es mei?Why have you forgotten me?et quare contristatus incedo,And why do I walk in mourning, dum affligit me inimicus?while my adversary afflicts me?”

Dum confringuntur ossa mea,While my bones are being broken, exprobraverunt mihi qui tribulant me inimici mei,my enemies, who trouble me, have reproached me.dum dicunt mihi per singulos dies:Meanwhile, they say to me every single day,Ubi est Deus tuus?“Where is your God?”

Quare tristis es,My soul, anima mea?why are you saddened?et quare conturbas me?And why do you disquiet me?Spera in Deo,Hope in God,quoniam adhuc confitebor illi, for I will still confess to him:salutare vultus mei,the salvation of my countenanceet Deus meus.and my God.
