In finem,Unto the end.filiis Core. Psalmus.A Psalm to the sons of Korah.

Audite hæc,Hear these things,omnes gentes;all nations.auribus percipite,Pay attention,omnes qui habitatis orbem:all inhabitants of the world:

quique terrigenæwhoever is earth-born,et filii hominum, you sons of men, simul in unum divestogether as one,et pauper.the rich and the poor.

Os meum loquetur sapientiam,My mouth will speak wisdom,et meditatio cordis mei prudentiam.and the meditation of my heart will speak prudence.

Inclinabo in parabolam aurem meam;I will incline my ear to a parable.aperiam in psalterio propositionem meam.I will open my case with the psaltery.

Cur timebo in die mala? Why should I fear in the evil day?iniquitas calcanei mei circumdabit me.The iniquity at my heel will surround me.

Qui confidunt in virtute sua, et in multitudine divitiarum suarum, gloriantur. Those who trust in their own strength and who glory in the multitude of their riches,

Frater non redimit,no brother redeems, redimet homo:nor will man buy back.non dabit Deo placationem suam,He will not give to God his appeasement,

et pretium redemptionis animæ suæ.nor the price for the redemption of his soul.Et laborabit in æternum; And he will labor continuously,

et vivet adhuc in finem.and he will still live, until the end.

Non videbit interitum,He will not see death, cum viderit sapientes morientes:when he sees the wise dying:simul insipiens et stultus peribunt.the foolish and the senseless will perish together.Et relinquent alienis divitias suas,And they will leave their riches to strangers.

et sepulchra eorum domus illorum in æternum; And their sepulchers will be their houses forever, tabernacula eorum in progenie et progenie:their tabernacles from generation to generation.vocaverunt nomina sua in terris suis. They have called their names in their own lands.

Et homo,And man,cum in honore esset, when he was held in honor, non intellexit.did not understand.Comparatus est jumentis insipientibus,He has been compared to the senseless beasts,et similis factus est illis.and he has become like them.

Hæc via illorum scandalum ipsis; This way of theirs is a scandal to them.et postea in ore suo complacebunt. And afterwards, they will delight in their mouth.

Sicut oves in inferno positi sunt:They have been placed in Hell like sheep.mors depascet eos.Death will feed on them.Et dominabuntur eorum justi in matutino; And the just will have dominion over them in the morning.et auxilium eorum veterascet in inferno a gloria eorum. And their help will grow old in Hell for their glory.

Verumtamen Deus redimet animam meam de manu inferi,Even so, truly God will redeem my soul from the hand of Hell, cum acceperit me.when he will receive me.

Ne timueris cum dives factus fuerit homo,Do not be afraid, when a man will have been made rich,et cum multiplicata fuerit gloria domus ejus:and when the glory of his house will have been multiplied.

quoniam, cum interierit,For when he dies, non sumet omnia,he will take nothing away, neque descendet cum eo gloria ejus.and his glory will not descend with him.

Quia anima ejus in vita ipsius benedicetur; For his soul will be blessed in his lifetime, confitebitur tibi cum benefeceris ei.and he will admit to you when you do good to him.

Introibit usque in progenies patrum suorum; He will even enter with the progeny of his fathers,et usque in æternum non videbit lumen.but, even in eternity, he will not see the light.

Homo,Man,cum in honore esset, when he was in honor, non intellexit.did not understand.Comparatus est jumentis insipientibus,He has been compared to the senseless beasts,et similis factus est illis.and he has become like them.
