Psalmus Asaph.A Psalm of Asaph.Deus deorum Dominus locutus est,The God of gods, the Lord has spoken,et vocavit terram a solis ortu usque ad occasum.and he has called the earth, from the rising of the sun even to its setting,

Ex Sion species decoris ejus:from Zion, the brilliance of his beauty.

Deus manifeste veniet;God will arrive manifestly.Deus noster, et non silebit. Our God also will not keep silence.Ignis in conspectu ejus exardescet;A fire will flare up in his sight,et in circuitu ejus tempestas valida.and a mighty tempest will surround him.

Advocabit cælum desursum,He will call to heaven from above,et terram, and to the earth, discernere populum suum.to discern his people.

Congregate illi sanctos ejus,Gather his holy ones to him,qui ordinant testamentum ejus super sacrificia.you who order his covenant above sacrifices.

Et annuntiabunt cæli justitiam ejus,And the heavens will announce his justice.quoniam Deus judex est.For God is the judge.

Audi,Listen, populus meus, et loquar;my people, and I will speak.Israël,Listen,et testificabor tibi: Deus,Israel, and I will testify for you.Deus tuus ego sum.I am God, your God.

Non in sacrificiis tuis arguam te;I will not reprove you for your sacrifices.holocausta autem tua in conspectu meo sunt semper. Moreover, your holocausts are ever in my sight.

Non accipiam de domo tua vitulos,I will not accept calves from your house, neque de gregibus tuis hircos:nor he-goats from your flocks.

quoniam meæ sunt omnes feræ silvarum,For all the wild beasts of the forest are mine:jumenta in montibus, the cattle on the hillset boves.and the oxen.

Cognovi omnia volatilia cæli,I know all the flying things of the air,et pulchritudo agri mecum est.and the beauty of the field is with me.

Si esuriero,If I should be hungry, non dicam tibi:I would not tell you:meus est enim orbis terræfor the whole world is mine,et plenitudo ejus.and all its plentitude.

Numquid manducabo carnes taurorum?Shall I gnaw on the flesh of bulls?aut sanguinem hircorum potabo?Or would I drink the blood of goats?

Immola Deo sacrificium laudis,Offer to God the sacrifice of praise,et redde Altissimo vota tua.and pay your vows to the Most High.

Et invoca me in die tribulationis:And call upon me in the day of tribulation.eruam te,I will rescue you,et honorificabis me.and you will honor me.

Peccatori autem dixit Deus:But to the sinner, God has said:Quare tu enarras justitias meas? Why do you discourse on my justices,et assumis testamentum meum per os tuum?and take up my covenant through your mouth?

Tu vero odisti disciplinam,Truly, you have hated discipline,et projecisti sermones meos retrorsum.and you have cast my sermons behind you.

Si videbas furem,If you saw a thief, currebas cum eo;you ran with him,et cum adulteris portionem tuam ponebas.and you have placed your portion with adulterers.

Os tuum abundavit malitia,Your mouth has abounded with malice,et lingua tua concinnabat dolos.and your tongue has concocted deceits.

Sedens adversus fratrem tuum loquebaris,Sitting, you spoke against your brother,et adversus filium matris tuæ ponebas scandalum.and you set up a scandal against your mother’s son.

Hæc fecisti,These things you have done,et tacui.and I was silent.Existimasti inique quod ero tui similis:You thought, unjustly, that I ought to be like you.arguam te, et statuam contra faciem tuam. But I will reprove you, and I will set myself against your face.

Intelligite hæc,Understand these things, qui obliviscimini Deum, you who forget God; lest at any time, nequando rapiat,he might quickly take you away,et non sit qui eripiat.and there would be no one to rescue you.

Sacrificium laudis honorificabit me,The sacrifice of praise will honor me.et illic iter quo ostendam illi salutare Dei.And in that place is the journey by which I will reveal to him the salvation of God.
