Psalmus David,A Psalm of David, cum esset in deserto Idumææ.when he was in the desert of Idumea.

Deus,O God,Deus meus,my God: to you,ad te de luce vigilo.I keep vigil until first light.Sitivit in te anima mea;For you, my soul has thirsted, quam multipliciter tibi caro mea!to you my body, in so many ways.

In terra deserta,By a deserted land,et invia, et inaquosa, both inaccessible and waterless, sic in sancto apparui tibi, ut viderem virtutem tuam et gloriam tuam.so I have appeared in the sanctuary before you, in order to behold your virtue and your glory.

Quoniam melior est misericordia tua super vitas,For your mercy is better than life itself.labia mea laudabunt te.It is you my lips will praise.

Sic benedicam te in vita mea,So will I bless you in my life,et in nomine tuo levabo manus meas.and I will lift up my hands in your name.

Sicut adipeLet my soul be filled,et pinguedine repleatur anima mea,as if with marrow and fatness;et labiis exsultationis laudabit os meum.and my mouth will give praise with exultant lips.

Si memor fui tui super stratum meum,When I have remembered you on my bed in the morning,in matutinis meditabor in te.I will meditate on you.

Quia fuisti adjutor meus,For you have been my helper.et in velamento alarum tuarum exsultabo. And I will exult under the cover of your wings.

Adhæsit anima mea post te;My soul has clung close to you.me suscepit dextera tua.Your right hand has supported me.

Ipsi vero in vanum quæsierunt animam meam:Truly, these ones have sought my soul in vain.introibunt in inferiora terræ;They will enter into the lower parts of the earth.

tradentur in manus gladii:They will be delivered into the hand of the sword.partes vulpium erunt. They will be the portions of foxes.

Rex vero lætabitur in Deo;Truly, the king will rejoice in God:laudabuntur omnes qui jurant in eo:all those who swear by him will be praised, quia obstructum est os loquentium iniqua.because the mouth of those who speak iniquity has been blocked.
