Canticum Psalmi, filiis Core,A Canticle Psalm to the sons of Korah.in finem,Unto the end.pro Maheleth ad respondendum. Intellectus Eman Ezrahitæ.For Mahalath, to answer the understanding of Heman the Ezrahite.
Domine,O Lord,Deus salutis meæ,God of my salvation:in die clamavi et nocte coram te.I have cried out, day and night, in your presence.
Intret in conspectu tuo oratio mea,Let my prayer enter in your sight.inclina aurem tuam ad precem meam.Incline your ear to my petition.
Quia repleta est malis anima mea,For my soul has been filled with evils,et vita mea inferno appropinquavit.and my life has drawn near to Hell.
Æstimatus sum cum descendentibus in lacum,I am considered to be among those who will descend into the pit.factus sum sicut homo sine adjutorio,I have become like a man without assistance,
inter mortuos liber;idle among the dead.sicut vulnerati dormientes in sepulchris,I am like the wounded sleeping in sepulchers, quorum non es memor amplius, whom you no longer remember,et ipsi de manu tua repulsi sunt.and who have been repelled by your hand.
Posuerunt me in lacu inferiori,They have lain me in the lower pit:in tenebrosis,in dark placeset in umbra mortis.and in the shadow of death.
Super me confirmatus est furor tuus,Your fury has been confirmed over me.et omnes fluctus tuos induxisti super me.And you have brought all your waves upon me.
Longe fecisti notos meos a me;You have sent my acquaintances far from me.posuerunt me abominationem sibi. They have set me as an abomination to themselves.Traditus sum,I was handed over,et non egrediebar;yet I did not depart.
oculi mei languerunt præ inopia. My eyes languished before destitution.Clamavi ad te,All day long,Domine,I cried out to you, tota die;O Lord.expandi ad te manus meas.I stretched out my hands to you.
Numquid mortuis facies mirabilia? Will you perform wonders for the dead?aut medici suscitabunt,Or will physicians raise to life,et confitebuntur tibi?and so confess to you?
Numquid narrabit aliquis in sepulchro misericordiam tuam,Could anyone declare your mercy in the sepulcher,et veritatem tuam in perditione?or your truth from within perdition?
Numquid cognoscentur in tenebris mirabilia tua? Will your wonders be known in the darkness,et justitia tua in terra oblivionis?or your justice in the land of oblivion?
Et ego ad te,And I have cried out to you,Domine,O Lord, clamavi, and in early morning,et mane oratio mea præveniet te.my prayer will come before you.
Ut quid,Lord,Domine, repellis orationem meam;why do you reject my prayer?avertis faciem tuam a me?Why do you turn your face away from me?
Pauper sum ego,I am poor,et in laboribus a juventute mea;and I have been amid hardships from my youth.exaltatus autem,And,humiliatus sumthough I have been exalted,et conturbatus.I am humbled and disturbed.
In me transierunt iræ tuæ,Your wrath has crossed into me,et terrores tui conturbaverunt me:and your terrors have disturbed me.
circumdederunt me sicut aqua tota die; They have surrounded me like water, all day long.circumdederunt me simul. They have surrounded me, all at once.
Elongasti a me amicum et proximum,Friend and neighbor, and my acquaintances,et notos meos a miseria.you have sent far away from me, away from misery.
