5Azarias filius Nathan super eos qui assistebant regi:Azariah, the son of Nathan, over those who were assisting the king;Zabud filius Nathan sacerdos,Zabud, the son of Nathan, the priest,amicus regis:the friend of the king;
6et Ahisar præpositus domus:and Ahishar, first ruler of the house;et Adoniram filius Abda super tributa.and Adoniram, the son of Abda, over the tribute.
7Habebat autem Salomon duodecim præfectos super omnem Israël,And Solomon had twelve commanders over all of Israel,qui præbebant annonam regi et domui ejus:who offered yearly provisions for the king and his house.per singulos enim menses in anno,For each was ministering the necessities,singuli necessaria ministrabant.by each month of the year.
8Et hæc nomina eorum:And these are their names:Benhur in monte Ephraim.Benhur, on mount Ephraim;
9Bendecar in Macces,Bendeker, in Makaz,et in Salebim,and in Shaalbim,et in Bethsames,and in Beth-shemesh,et in Elon,and in Elon,et in Bethanan.and in Beth-hanan;
10Benhesed in Aruboth:Benhesed,ipsius erat Socho,in Arubboth:et omnis terra Epher.his was Socoh and the entire land of Hepher;
11Benabinadab,Benabinadab,cujus omnis Nephath Dor:to whom was all of Naphath-Dor,Tapheth filiam Salomonis habebat uxorem.who had Taphath, the daughter of Solomon, as wife;
12Bana filius Ahilud regebat Thanac et Mageddo,Baana, the son of Ahilud, who was reigning in Taanach,et universam Bethsan,and Megiddo, and all of Bethshean,quæ est juxta Sarthana subter Jezrahel,which is beside Zarethan and below Jezreel,a Bethsan usque Abelmehula e regione Jecmaan.from Bethshean as far as Abelmeholah, opposite Jokmeam;
13Bengaber in Ramoth Galaad:Bengeber, in Ramoth Gilead,habebat Avothjair filii Manasse in Galaad:who had the town of Jair, the son of Manasseh,ipse præerat in omni regione Argob, quæ est in Basan,in Gilead; the same was first in the entire region of Argob,sexaginta civitatibus magnis atque muratis quæ habebant seras æreas.which is in Bashan, sixty great cities with walls that had bronze bars;

18Semei filius Ela in Benjamin.Shimei, the son of Ela, in Benjamin;
19Gaber filius Uri in terra Galaad,Geber, the son of Uri, in the land of Gilead,in terra Sehon regis Amorrhæi et Og regis Basan,in the land of Sihon, king of the Amorites, and of Og,super omnia quæ erant in illa terra.king of Bashan, over all who were in that land.
20Juda et Israël innumerabiles,Judah and Israel were innumerable,sicut arena maris in multitudine:like the sand of the sea in multitude:comedentes, et bibentes,eating and drinking,atque lætantes.and rejoicing.
21Salomon autem erat in ditione sua,Now Solomon had, in his dominion,habens omnia regna a flumine terræ Philisthiim usque ad terminum Ægypti:all the kingdoms, from the river to the land of the Philistines, even to the border of Egypt.offerentium sibi munera,And they offered gifts to him,et servientium ei cunctis diebus vitæ ejus.and they served him all the days of his life.
22Erat autem cibus Salomonis per dies singulos triginta cori similæ,And the provisions of Solomon, for each day, were thirty cor of fine wheat flour,et sexaginta cori farinæ,and sixty cor of meal,
23decem boves pingues,ten fattened oxen,et viginti boves pascuales,and twenty oxen from the pastures,et centum arietes,and one hundred rams,excepta venatione cervorum,aside from the venison of stags,caprearum,roe deer,atque bubalorum,and gazelles,et avium altilium.and fattened poultry.
24Ipse enim obtinebat omnem regionem quæ erat trans flumen,For he had obtained the entire region which was beyond the river,a Thaphsa usque ad Gazan,from Tiphsah as far as Gaza,et cunctos reges illarum regionum:and all the kings of those regions.et habebat pacem ex omni parte in circuitu.And he had peace on every side all around.
25Habitabatque Juda et Israël absque timore ullo,And so, Judah and Israel were living without any fear,unusquisque sub vite sua et sub ficu sua,each one under his own vine and under his own fig tree,a Dan usque Bersabee,from Dan as far as Beersheba,cunctis diebus Salomonis.during all the days of Solomon.
26Et habebat Salomon quadraginta millia præsepia equorum currilium,And Solomon had forty thousand stalls of chariot horses,et duodecim millia equestrium.and twelve thousand riding horses.
27Nutriebantque eos supradicti regis præfecti:And the above-stated commanders of the king nourished these.sed et necessaria mensæ regis Salomonis cum ingenti cura præbebant in tempore suo.And they also offered the necessities for the table of king Solomon, with immense diligence, each in his time.
28Hordeum quoque,Also,et paleas equorum et jumentorum,they brought barley and straw for the horses and beasts of burden,deferebant in locum ubi erat rex,to the place where the king was,juxta constitutum sibi.just as it was appointed to them.
29Dedit quoque Deus sapientiam Salomoni, et prudentiam multam nimis,And God gave wisdom to Solomon, and an exceedingly great prudence,et latitudinem cordis quasi arenam quæ est in littore maris.and a spacious heart, like the sand which is on the shore of the sea.
30Et præcedebat sapientia Salomonis sapientiam omnium OrientaliumAnd the wisdom of Solomon surpassed the wisdom of all the East,et Ægyptiorum,and of the Egyptians.
31et erat sapientior cunctis hominibus:And he was wiser than all men:sapientior Ethan Ezrahita,wiser than Ethan, the Ezrahite,et Heman,and Heman,et Chalcol,and Calcol,et Dorda filiis Mahol:and Darda, the sons of Mahol.et erat nominatus in universis gentibus per circuitum.And he was renowned in all the nations on every side.
32Locutus est quoque Salomon tria millia parabolas:Solomon also spoke three thousand parables.et fuerunt carmina ejus quinque et mille.And his verses were one thousand and five.
33Et disputavit super lignis a cedro quæ est in Libano,And he discoursed about trees, from the cedar which is in Lebanon,usque ad hyssopum quæ egreditur de pariete:to the hyssop which grows out from the wall.et disseruit de jumentis, et volucribus,And he explained about beasts, and birds,et reptilibus,and reptiles,et piscibus.and fish.
34Et veniebant de cunctis populis ad audiendam sapientiam Salomonis,And they came from all the peoples in order to hear the wisdom of Solomon,et ab universis regibus terræ qui audiebant sapientiam ejus.and from all the kings of the earth, who were hearing about his wisdom.
