Cumque reverterentur,And as they were returning, pervenerunt ad Charan, they came through to Haran,quæ est in medio itinere contra Niniven, which is in the middle of the journey, opposite Nineveh, undecimo die.on the eleventh day.

Dixitque angelus:And the Angel said:Tobia frater,“Brother Tobias, scis quemadmodum reliquisti patrem tuum.you know how you left behind your father.

Si placet itaque tibi,And so, if it pleases you,præcedamus, let us go on ahead,et lento gradu sequantur iter nostrum familiæ,and let the family follow after us with a slower step, simul cum conjuge tua, together with your bride,et cum animalibus.and with the animals.”

Cumque hoc placuisset ut irent, dixit Raphaël ad Tobiam:And since it pleased him to go on in this way, Raphael said to Tobias,Tolle tecum ex felle piscis:“Take with you from the gall of the fish, erit enim necessarium.for it will be necessary.”Tulit itaque Tobias ex felle illo,And so, Tobias took from its gall,et abierunt.and he went ahead.

Anna autem sedebat secus viam quotidie in supercilio montis,But Anna sat beside the way every day, on the top of a hill, unde respicere poterat de longinquo.from where she would be able to see for a long distance.

Et dum ex eodem loco specularetur adventum ejus,And while she was watching for his arrival from that place, vidit a longe, she looked far off,et illico agnovit venientem filium suum:and soon she realized that her son was approaching.currensque nuntiavit viro suo,And running, she reported it to her husband, dicens:saying:Ecce venit filius tuus.“Behold, your son arrives.”

Dixitque Raphaël ad Tobiam:And Raphael said to Tobias:At ubi introieris domum tuam,“As soon as you enter into your house, statim adora Dominum Deum tuum:immediately adore the Lord your God.et gratias agens ei,And, giving thanks to him, accede ad patrem tuum, approach your father,et osculare eum.and kiss him.

Statimque lini super oculos ejus ex felle isto piscis,And immediately anoint his eyes from this gall of the fish, quod portas tecum:which you carry with you.scias enim quoniam mox aperientur oculi ejus,For you should know that his eyes will soon be opened,et videbit pater tuus lumen cæli,and your father will see the light of heaven,et in aspectu tuo gaudebit.and he will rejoice at the sight of you.”

Tunc præcucurrit canis, qui simul fuerat in via:Then the dog, which had been with them in the way,et quasi nuntius adveniens, ran ahead, and, arriving like a messenger, blandimento suæ caudæ gaudebat.he showed his joy by fawning and wagging his tail.

Et consurgens cæcus pater ejus,And rising up, his blind father began to run,cœpit offendens pedibus currere: et data manu puero, stumbling with his feet. And giving his hand to a servant, occurrit obviam filio suo.he ran on to meet his son.

Et suscipiens osculatus est eum cum uxore sua,And receiving him, he kissed him, as did his wife,et cœperunt ambo flere præ gaudio.and they both began to weep for joy.

Cumque adorassent Deum,And when they had adored Godet gratias egissent, and had given thanks, consederunt.they sat down together.

Tunc sumens Tobias de felle piscis,Then Tobias, taking from the gall of the fish, linivit oculos patris sui.anointed his father’s eyes.

Et sustinuit quasi dimidiam fere horam: et cœpit albugo ex oculis ejus,And about half an hour passed, and then a white film began to come out of his eyes, quasi membrana ovi, egredi.like the membrane of an egg.

Quam apprehendens Tobias,So, taking hold of it,traxit ab oculis ejus:Tobias pulled it away from his eyes, statimque visum recepit.and immediately he received his sight.

Et glorificabant Deum,And they glorified God:ipse videlicetTobit especially,et uxor ejus, and his wife,et omnes qui sciebant eum.and all those who knew him.

Dicebatque Tobias:And Tobit said,Benedico te,“I bless you,Domine Deus Israël,O Lord God of Israel, quia tu castigasti me,because you have chastised me,et tu salvasti me:and you have saved me,et ecce ego video Tobiam filium meum.and behold, I see my son Tobias.”

Ingressa est etiam post septem dies Sara uxor filii ejus et omnis familia sana, et pecora, et cameli, et pecunia multa uxoris; sed et illa pecunia, quam receperat a Gabelo. And then, after seven days, Sarah, the wife of his son, and all the family arrived safely, along with the sheep, and the camels, and much money from his wife, but also with that money which he had received from Gabael.

Et narravit parentibus suis omnia beneficia Dei,And he explained to his parents all the benefits from God,quæ fecisset circa eum per hominem qui eum duxerat.which he had produced all around him, by means of the man who had led him.

Veneruntque Achior et Nabath consobrini Tobiæ gaudentes ad Tobiam,And then Ahikar and Nadab arrived, the maternal first cousins of Tobias, rejoicing for Tobias,et congratulantes ei de omnibus bonis quæ circa illum ostenderat Deus.and congratulating with him for all the good things that God had revealed all around him.

Et per septem dies epulantes,And for seven days they feasted, omnes cum gaudio magno gavisi sunt.and all were rejoicing with great joy.
