Et levavi oculos meos,And I lifted up my eyes,et vidi, and I saw,et ecce vir,and behold, a man,et in manu ejus funiculus mensorum.and in his hand was a measuring line.

Et dixi:And I said,Quo tu vadis?“Where are you going?”Et dixit ad me:And he said to me,Ut metiar Jerusalem,“To measure Jerusalem,et videam quanta sit latitudo ejus,so that I may see how great its widthet quanta longitudo ejus.and how great its length may be.”

Et ecce angelus qui loquebatur in me egrediebatur,And behold, the angel, who had been speaking with me,et angelus alius egrediebatur in occursum ejus:departed, and another angel went out to meet him.

et dixit ad eum:And he said to him:Curre,Hurry, loquere ad puerum istum, speak to this young man, dicens:saying:Absque muro habitabitur Jerusalem,Jerusalem will be inhabited without walls,præ multitudine hominum et jumentorum in medio ejus.because of the multitude of men and beasts of burden in its midst.

Et ego ero ei,And I will be to it,ait Dominus, says the Lord, murus ignis in circuitu,a wall of fire all around.et in gloria ero in medio ejus. And in glory, I will be in its midst.

O,O,o, fugite de terra aquilonis,O flee from the land of the North, dicit Dominus, says the Lord, quoniam in quatuor ventos cæli dispersi vos,for I have scattered you into the four winds of heaven, dicit Dominus.says the Lord.

O Sion!O Zion, fuge, flee,quæ habitas apud filiam Babylonis:you who dwell with the daughter of Babylon.

quia hæc dicit Dominus exercituum:For thus says the Lord of hosts: After the glory,Post gloriam misit me ad gentes quæ spoliaverunt vos:he has sent me to the Gentiles, which have despoiled you.qui enim tetigerit vos,For he who touches you, tangit pupillam oculi mei:touches the pupil of my eye.

quia ecce ego levo manum meam super eos,For behold, I lift up my hand over them,et erunt prædæ his qui serviebant sibi:and they will be a prey to those who had served them.et cognoscetis quia Dominus exercituum misit me.And you will know that the Lord of hosts has sent me.

LaudaSing praise and rejoice,et lætare,daughter of Zion.filia Sion,For behold,quia ecce ego venio,I approach,et habitabo in medio tui,and I will dwell in your midst,ait Dominus.says the Lord.

Et applicabuntur gentes multæ ad Dominum in die illa,And many nations will be joined to the Lord in that day,et erunt mihi in populum, and they will be my people,et habitabo in medio tui:and I will dwell in your midst.et scies quia Dominus exercituum misit me ad te.And you will know that the Lord of hosts has sent me to you.

Et possidebit Dominus Judam partem suam in terra sanctificata,And the Lord will possess his portion, Judah, in the sanctified land,et eliget adhuc Jerusalem.and still he will single out Jerusalem.

Sileat omnis caro a facie Domini,Let all flesh be silent before the face of the Lord:quia consurrexit de habitaculo sancto suo.for he has arisen from his holy dwelling place.
